Hostel Description
The local boutique hostel in Haarlem, Netherlands bridges the gap between upscale hotels and relaxed hostels. Here, you can indulge in dining, socializing, and peaceful slumber. Positioned in the Burgwal Neighborhood, the hostel is opposite Teylers Museum and Grote Markt square, a short walk from Haarlem station, a quick Amsterdam train ride, and a bike trip away from the national park and Zandvoort/Bloemendaal beaches. Straying from modern trends, the hostel prioritize personal connections over screens, thus excluding TVs and Wi-Fi in the 21 rooms. However, complimentary Wi-Fi is available in my café. For your convenience, a secure bike storage area and a well-equipped guest pantry are provided, ensuring a comfortable stay.

The experience at the hostel was fantastic, the hostel itself has a unique energy that embraces all people, even if they’re an employee, a volunteer, or guests. I had a warm welcome and stay. I could feel at home being way far from my home! Regarding the work, the schedule is fair and the days off are respected, the only shift that is more difficult than the rest is the “night watch”, which takes more working hours, but everything was very clear and we were able to talk and discuss everything with Tim – he’s responsible for the volunteers – Thanks Tim! Thanks my group, I miss you!

This was an amazing first time experience, and I wish I could have stayed for longer! Tim was a great communicator, and the hostel has a great social atmosphere and vintage vibes. The work is fair, and enjoyable with other volunteers! The location is perfect to explore a wide variety of activities. The best part of the experience is interacting with the other volunteers and making day trips with them. It’s a very safe place, I would see people regularly leaving their belongings in the public areas of the hostel. You can cycle to anywhere, which is very convenient. Overall a great experience!!

It`s this amazing hostel and the staff can only be described as AWESOME, they are very patient with new volunteers/helpers, so friendly and welcoming as well! The other volunteers were amazing and I definitely have made some friendships here that I know I`ll take with me for the rest of my life. The work gets pretty easy as soon as you get the hang of it. When you are not working, you are free to explore the beautiful city of Haarlem with a bike provided by the hostel for free and usually, by the end of the day, volunteers and staff share a wonderful meal together!! So worth the experience!!!

The hostel very grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at “the hostel” in Haarlem, the hostel is one of the most “gezellig” (dutch word for “coziness” & “fun”) places I have ever been to. The best part of this volunteering that made this an amazing volunteering experience for me, were all the volunteers and staff members that were always there to help you and cheer you up. Regarding the work, you will be taught how to everything by others, so you are never alone. Thank you to Tim and to all the volunteers for making me feel so at home and welcomed at the hostel!

It was a positive experience and a real family, it meets what travelers expect and Tim is an extraordinary coordinator, all very organized schedules and tasks with good communication and a team with good vibes. I’ll be back soon, thanks for this opportunity!
